FINALLY!

Studio finals have finally come to an end and here is the result. This is my much more finished animatic for IN DA CLUB. I decided to make much much more actually animated at the last minute and I couldn't be happier with how it came out. You might notice the story was cut a bit, but I feel it made the story smoother than it was before. The sound and dialogue are still rough, but will be completely touched up and redone soon. I of course will acknowledge all my suggestion and fix everything needed to make it even stronger. But anyways, please laugh and enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who helped me over this semester.

ALL DA PRETTY COLORS!

With the hopes to eventually get to color, I created this color bible that I made to really reflect on the story. I will be using complementary colors, blue and orange, to show the clash of two sides, the Bouncer and Johnny. I also used the color blue to make the environment outside of the club rather gloomy, and I used the color orange for the inside of the club to make it appear glorious. It also makes it clear to the audience that "DA CLUB" is the object of desire. I'm sure you'll see what I'm going for here:

DA VISUAL DEVELOPMENT

Here are two finished backgrounds for the film. The majority of the story takes place inside of that party lighten alley way. The first background is from the viewpoint of the Bouncer, and the second is the shot after Johnny is thrown into his car. I decided to stick to a realistic perspective and style to really make those stylized characters and props stand out, drawing the audiences attention more towards the action itself.

DA Animatic!

It's rough rough rough, but here is the first pass of the animatic so everyone can see a general idea of the flow of the story. I'm now in the process of drawing some keys and layouts, so hopefully by the end of this semester it will look much more beautiful. Enjoy!

Extra, Extra!

Here are some additional pieces of visual development, including the different costumes and structures of JOHNNY, some club hipsters, facial expressions, and props.

DA Character Designs

Here are my main characters I designed for my short film "IN DA CLUB". I applied everything I've learned thus far to create modern and amusing looking characters that not only look humorous to fit the overall story, but represent each of their individual personalities perfectly. This character line up consists of a very helpful but mysterious pharmacist, DEALER, my main character's main squeeze and damsel in distress, SAMMY, my main character and protagonist, JOHNNY, and the antagonist that is a straight up fat guy hater, BOUNCER. Quite the bunch if I do say so myself.

Spray Paintin' Some Serious Dinos

Here is my individual piece, apart from school work, I have been working on. I am now currently coloring it, but I thought I'd throw out the black and white to get everyone excited. I hope you find the uniqueness of it as appealing as myself.

The Exciting Ending to... IN DA CLUB!

I have finally finished the conclusion to my short film. I went back and reframed and detailed all my previous frames, along with these new frames that make up the ending. Here are a few of those cleaned up frames from the end. I hope you enjoy, especially the priceless expression on the last frame.

The Storyboards for "IN DA CLUB"

Here is the first pass of storyboards for my film, titled "IN DA CLUB". It begins with our main character, the unusually small and pudgy man, driving his extremely beautiful date to DA CLUB. He opens her car door, grabs her hand, and walks her to the entrance where he realizes like a slap to the face, literally, that the bouncer, the antagonist, won't let him in due to his fatness, which our protagonist was completely unaware of until that moment. There he goes through many obstacles, all resulting in painful failures, while his date inside of the club is coming closer and closer to being consumed by "air humpers". It isn't until he receives an extraordinary "PROTEIN" pill from a strange man where his luck changes. He then becomes rather large in a different way, becoming abnormally buff after spending a couple hours at the gym.  He confronts the bouncer once again, this time destroying him with a one hitter quitter. He finally enters the club and notices his date screaming, resulting in him doing a sonic boom on the dance floor, blowing every "air humper" away from her. She is now completely relieved as he begins dancing with her. All of the sudden he hears "That was the last song of the night! Thank Yooouuu!" from the speakers. He begins to sob as his date bends down and asks, "So... my place?" He immediately becomes excited once again as he throws a thumbs up, thus ending the story of "IN DA CLUB".

I apologize that the frames jump around at times, but if you follow the numbers next to each board in order it will all flow perfectly. Thank you!

Kartoony Perry

This is an earlier piece I did while being inspired by Katy Perry's absolutely beautiful but risque photo shoot for Esquire. I used her seductive pose and image and really made it into a character of my own.
